After a dominant first half, Brownsburg was able to stave off a near comeback by Ben Davis in a 29-24 win.
Two Luke Lacey touchdown receptions - the second a 40-yard catch - put the Bulldogs up 22-3 early on the second.
"We had such a long offseason," head coach John Hart said. "We were so ready to play somebody else. I thought we'd come out and explode."
Preston Terrell's 37-yard touchdown catch would put Brownsburg up 29-10 at halftime.
Ben Davis scored 14 unanswered in the second half to bring the game to within five with eight minutes to go.
A long Brownsburg drive ended in a turnover on downs but drained most of the remaining clock. Ben Davis took possession at their own 17 yard line with 2:41 to go.
The Brownsburg defense came up huge, forcing a four and out with a minute to go.
"Both teams showed the ability to fight adversity very and that's the thing I'm most proud of," Hart said. "That and how much I love the game and love this school and love this crowd."
Ben Easters took a knee and the Bulldogs are 1-0.
"We have a Division I quartback, a Division I running back and a couple of Division I wide receivers," Hart said. "We shouldn't hit a roadblock like we did in the second half. We've just got to work those things out because everybody's going to try to do what they did in the second half."
The football team is back in action on Aug. 30 at St. Xavier.
