Bulldogs Win Over Braves Fall to Eagles

Brownsburg travelled to Zionsville for a battle of state ranked and undefeated conference teams Friday.  Both teams coming off losses it was a battle of who could bounce back.  Zionsville jumped off to a great start as Brownsburg struggled to score early. Brownsburg battled back in the second quarter and headed to the locker room at halftime with some momentum but still trailing by 11.  The Bulldogs started the third with the same determination they had in the second quarter and continued to cut into the lead.  After getting to within 7 points the Eagles put on a string of scores of their own and pushed the lead back to double digits entering the fourth quarter.  Brownsburg suffered their first conference loss of the year 68-51.  Kyle Wolf had 4 rebounds, Malek Edmonds chipped in 3 rebounds.  Cameron Alford, Kris Jackson, and Ryan Porath all had 3 assists, while Alford(17), Reis Thomas(8), Pierce Thomas(8) and Antrez Baker(7) lead the team in scoring

Saturday evening Brownsburg headed to Terre Haute South for the Braves Homecoming game.  With both teams sporting very successful records it proved to be a highly competitive game.  Brownsburg jumped out to an early lead thanks to some outstanding team play and several nice finishes by the post players.  After leading 21-7, foul trouble forced the team to sit most of the starters in the second quarter.  The Bulldogs got excellent play from their bench to play the host team even in the second quarter 12-12 and take a 33-19 halftime lead.  Not to be embarrassed on their Homecoming night the Braves came out in the third quarter and regained the lead with a significant effort against the Bulldogs.  With the game slipping away, Brownsburg dug in and made several good plays to regain the lead.  The last four minutes were a back and forth battle to the end.  Cameron Alford made 1 of 2 free throws with 3 seconds left to give Brownsburg a lead and the team played good defense on the last possession to secure the win 58-57 over the Braves.

Alford had 7 assists, Reis Thomas had 11 rebounds, and Antrez Baker added 7 with Alford and Pierce Thomas chipping in 4 each.  Alford, Reis Thomas, Pierce Thomas, and Antrez Baker all had double figure points in the win for the Bulldogs who pushed their record to 14-4.
