Bulldogs Compete at HC Hoopfest

Friday the boys basketball team played Nationally ranked Lalumiere in the Hendricks County Hoopfest at Danville High School.  The Bulldogs got off to a slow start falling behind in the first 4 minutes of the quarter but settled down and finished the quarter with some solid play still trailing 18-7.  Brownsburg battled in the second quarter playing the defending National champions even for the quarter.  The Bulldogs had several opportunities to cut the lead but still trailed by 11 at half 33-22.  The third quarter saw another tough 8 minutes but Brownsburg wouldn't go away still only trailing by 15.  LaLumiere would pull away slightly in the 4th quarter for a 66-45 victory over Brownsburg.  For the game, Brownsburg had many inspiring performances.  Reis Thomas, Antrez Baker, Pierce Thomas, and Malek Edmonds found opportunities on offense against a much bigger front line from LaLumiere and fought a great defensive battle.  Cameron Alford lead the Bulldogs in scoring and assists.  Antrez Baker led the team in rebounding.  The team found many positives for the game and will use the experience to get better in the early season.

Saturday night Brownsburg returned for a second game in the Hendricks County Hoopfest against state ranked Culver Academy.  The Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead only to see the Eagles from Culver lead at the break 11-8.  Starting the second quarter, the Bulldogs caught fire and combined a great defensive effort with transition and great team offense to outscore Culver 17-2 and take a commanding 25-13 lead at the half.  The teams played fairly even in the second half with Brownsburg taking a 15 point lead in the fourth quarter.  Several players contributed to a great team victory.  Cameron Alford and Kris Jackson did a great job running the offense and pushing transition opportunities for Brownsburg.  Pierce Thomas had a good game creating offense and playing a very physical front line.  The front line from Brownsburg had an excellent evening.  Reis Thomas, Malek Edmonds, Antrez Baker and Kyle Wolf stacked two good evenings of basketball together for the Bulldogs.  Wolf had a high light dunk over a Culver defender with a foul that sent the team and fans into a roaring cheer.  Edmonds, Alford and Reis Thomas lead the team in scoring while the front line had several players with 3 or more rebounds.  Pierce Thomas and Kris Jackson lead the team in assists for the evening.  Brownsburg made a season high 6 three pointers as they seem to be rounding into good form playing a great early season schedule against some of the best competition in the state.
