Girls' Track Wins Zionsville Invite

It was quite a night for the Girls' Track Team as they competed against nine other very talented teams at the Zionsville Invitational on Friday and came away with the championship trophy! It was also a night of many records as all the girls showed up ready to compete. Freshman pole vaulting sensation Megan Berry not only tied her freshman school record of 10ft., but also broke the all-time meet record with her performance. Briana Smith was burning up the track all night in the sprints as she broke her personal record, not only in the 100m dash, but also the 200m dash. Senior Shay Roberson set a new personal record as she launched the discus over 105ft for an important 3rd place finish. Freshman Courtney Stull continues to break her personal record in the 300m hurdles every time she hits the track as she ran to a 2nd place overall finish with a time of 50.08 seconds. Distance runner Julia Popenfoose crushed her own personal record by 6 seconds in the mile finishing in 5:38, while teammate Cassidy Brown also set herself a new record of 12:00 in the 2 mile race.
 
Other fantastic performance came from overall 1st place finishers Stephanie Mavunga in the shot put and Sibong Ncube in the 100m hurdles. Two relay team also set season best times including the 4x100 relay team of Sibong Ncube, Briana Smith, Flo Akinribade, and Monique Burns and the 4x400 relay team of Briana Smith, Aliyah Walker, Tavon McCollum, and Lauren Markovich. Congratulations on a great win girls!
