Dixon, No. 6 @bhsdogsbxc set to run in IHSAA State Finals

Brownsburg High School will be well represented at the 2019 IHSAA Cross Country State Finals on November 2nd.

The Brownsburg boys' cross-country team will compete in their first-ever IHSAA State Finals meet while Brownsburg girls' cross-country runner Brooke Dixon will make her second consecutive State Finals appearance.

The meet is hosted by Lavern Gibson Cross Country Course in Terre Haute, Indiana. The boy's race will kick off at 1 p.m.

     The Field

Twenty-five boys' cross-country teams and twenty-four girls' cross-country teams will run this weekend at Lavern Gibson this weekend.

Dixon is one of 81 individual competing at the meet without a team.

The top teams in the state of Indiana will all meet in Terre Haute this weekend to close the IHSAA Cross Country season.

On the boy's side, 23 of the 25 teams in the IATCCC poll are running this week at State. All but three of the teams in the girl's poll are running this weekend.

The boys teams competing are No. 19 Bloomington North, No.5  Bloomington South, No. 4 Brebeuf Jesuit, No. 6 Brownsburg, No. 2 Carmel, No. 3 Center Grove, No. 17 Chesterton, No. 16 Columbia City, No. 7 Columbus North, No. 13 Crown Point, No. 9 Fishers, No. 12 Floyd Central, No. 1 Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran, No. 18 Hamilton Southeastern, No. 22 Harrison (West Lafayette), No. 8 Homestead, No. 23 Jasper, Lake Central, New Prairie, No.10 Noblesville, No. 24 Northview, No. 14 Valparaiso, No. 20 West Lafayette, No. 15 West Noble and No. 11 Zionsville.

The girls teams competing are No. 5 Bloomington North, No. 17 Bloomington South, No. 6 Brebeuf Jesuit, No. 4 Carmel, No. 1 Carroll (Fort Wayne), No. 3 Columbus North, Edgewood, No. 7 Fishers, No. 10 Floyd Central, No. 19 Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran, No. 13 Hamilton Southeastern, No. 20 Harrison (West Lafayette), No. 11 Homestead, No. 8 Bishop Chatard, No. 18 Cardinal Ritter, No. 23 Lake Central, Lowell, No. 9 Noblesville, No. 16 Northridge, No. 14 Northview, No. 22 Portage, No. 15 Valparaiso, No. 12 West Lafayette, No. 2 Zionsville.

The boy's teams from Bloomington South, Carmel, Crown Point, Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran are all coming off Semi-State championships. Carroll (Fort Wayne), Columbus North, West Lafayette, and Zionsville all won Semi-State championships a week ago.

     Last time out

Brownsburg cross country competed in the IHSAA Cross Country Semi-State at Blue River Park Cross Country Course.

The boys' team finished fourth at the Semi-State to clinch their first-ever appearance in the IHSAA State Finals. Alexander Freeman, Trevor Nolan and Jacob Kodrick all finished in the top-30 to help the Bulldogs advance.

The Brownsburg girls' team finished 8th at the regional to miss the cut for advancing to state. However, Dixon finished fourth with a time of 18:33.94.

     Back at Lavern Gibson

Saturday will be the second time Brownsburg cross country competes at Lavern Gibson. Earlier this season, the Bulldogs ran at the Nike Valley Twilight in Terre Haute.

The boys finished fourth at the meet led by a 17th-place performance from Nolan. Freeman finished 27th at the meet with a time of 16:02.60.

Dixon finished 11th with a time of 18:39.90 at the Nike Valley Twilight.

She also competed at Lavern Gibson in the 2018 State Finals. Dixon posted a time of 19:20.5 for a 43rd-place finish.  

     The Lineup

The Brownsburg boys will feature their same lineup since the start of the state tournament. Freeman, Nolan, Kodrick, Panin SkilesKole KelleyBrett Heckman and Adin Rademacher will compete for the Bulldogs.
