IHSAA BOYS XC STATE TOURNAMENT | IHSAA GIRLS XC STATE TOURNAMENT
The Brownsburg Boys' and Girls' Cross Country teams will compete in the 2019 IHSAA Cross Country State Tournament on Saturday as Brownsburg High School hosts IHSAA Sectional 17.
The meet kicks off at 10:30 a.m.
The Field
Avon, Bethesda Christian, Brownsburg, Cascade, Cloverdale, Danville Community, Greencastle, North Putnam, South Putnam, Plainfield, Crawfordsville, Tri-West Hendricks and Southmont make up the Sectional 17 field.
Brownsburg is the only school to bring ranked teams into the Sectional. The Brownsburg boys are ranked seventh in this week's IATCCC poll. The Brownsburg girls sit in the No. 17 slot.
Defending Champs
Brownsburg is looking to extend Sectional championship streaks on both the boys and girls side.
The Brownsburg girls have won three consecutive Sectional titles dating back to 2016. The Boys come into the postseason as defending champions after winning the crown in 2018.
Last season, the Brownsburg girls put three of their runners in the top-five individual times at the Sectional. Brooke Dixon was runner-up.
The Brownsburg boys also put three of their runners in the top-five at the 2018 Sectional as they swept the third, fourth and fifth place positions.
Last Time Out
Brownsburg competed at the 2019 Nike Valley Twilight where both teams posted top-ten finishes. The meet featured over a dozen ranked teams on both sides.
The Brownsburg boys finished fourth as Alexander Freeman and Trevor Nolan both finished in the top-thirty.
The Girls finished eighth at the meet. Dixon (18:39.90) posted the top individual time for the Bulldogs.
Back at home
Brownsburg will compete in their third meet on their home course and their second meet at home in the last three weeks.
Earlier in the season, Brownsburg hosted the 2019 Brownsburg Invitational and swept the top two spots. Dixon and Freeman both broke course records at that meet.
Just two weeks ago, Brownsburg hosted the 2019 Hoosier Crossroads Conference Cross Country Championshsips in what was a strong day on both the boys and the girls side.
The Boys finished second while the girls finished fourth. Dixon, Freemman and Nolan were All-HCC selections at the meet.
The Lineup
The Brownsburg boys will feature the same lineup as they did in Terre Haute last weekend. Freeman, Nolan, Jacob Kodrick, Panin Skiles, Kole Kelley, Brett Heckman and Adin Rademacher will compete for the Bullodogs.
On the girls side, Dixon, Emma Cougill, Kiley VanNess, Alivia Gistrowsky, Isabella Maihofer, Sophie Britton and Eva Altschul will run for the Bulldogs.
A Look Ahead
The top-five team finishers at the Brownsburg Sectional will advance to IHSAA Regional 9 hosted by Ben Davis High School. The meet is set for October 19th at 10:30 a.m.
The Ben Davis Regional feeds into IHSAA Semi-State 2 hosted by Shelbyville High School.
The 2019 IHSAA Cross Country State Finals will be run at Lavern Gibson Cross Country Course in Terre Haute Indiana.
