Brownsburg Cross Country to run at IHSAA Shelbyville Semi-State

Brownsburg Boys' and Girls' Cross-Country will compete in the 2019 IHSAA State Tournament at the Shelbyville Semi-State this weekend.

The meet is set to kick off at 10:30 a.m. from Blue River Cross Country Course.

The top-ten individual times not from an advancing team along with the top-six team finishers will all advance to the 2019 IHSAA Cross Country State Finals at Lavern Gibson Cross Country Course.     

     The Field

The Ben Davis, Noblesville, Rushville and Franklin Regionals feed into the Semi-State at Shelbyville.

Twenty teams will run at each IHSAA Cross Country Semi-State this weekend. Of the teams competing at Shelbyville, eight boys' teams are ranked in the IATCCC poll while a total of seven girls' teams are ranked.

Three of the top six teams in both IATCCC polls will compete at Shelbyville this weekend.

The boys' teams competing are Avon, Batesville, Ben Davis, No. 2 Brebeuf, No. 4 Brownsburg, Cambridge City, No. 3 Carmel, Cathedral, No. 10 Center Grove, Franklin, No. 19 Franklin Central, Greenwood, Mt. Vernon, No. 15 Noblesville, No. 16 North Central, Plainfield, Roncalli, Warren Central, Whiteland and No. 7 Zionsville.

On the girls' side, Avon, Batesville, No. 9 Brebeuf, No. 16 Brownsburg, No. 12 Bishop Chatard, Cardinal Ritter, No. 4 Carmel, No. 6 Cathedral, Center Grove, Franklin, Franklin Central, Greensburg, Mt. Vernon, New Palestine, No. 13 Noblesville, Plainfield, Roncalli, Warren Central, Whiteland and No. 2 Zionsville will all compete.

The boys' teams from Brownsburg, Brebeuf, Center Grove and Franklin Central all came away with IHSAA Cross Country Regional championships last weekend. On the girls' side, Zionsville, Batesville, New Pal and Carmel were all crowned regional champions a week ago.

     Last Time Out

Last weekend, Brownsburg Boys' and Girls' cross country both posted strong performances in the Regional round. Brownsburg competed in IHSAA Cross Country Regional 9 hosted by Ben Davis High School.

The Brownsburg boys won the third IHSAA Cross Country Regional championship in program history. The Brownsburg girls finished second in the Regional to advance to the Semi-state this weekend.

The boys put Alex Freeman (5th) and Trevor Nolan (10th) in the top-ten individual times to finish ahead of HCC foe Zionsville.

The girls saw Brooke Dixon finish 5th to lead the Bulldogs to a runner-up performance.

     History

The Bulldogs are competing in their eighth Semi-State this decade. Their highest finish in that stretch was a sixth-place performance back in 2017.

This weekend will be the fourth consecutive Semi-State appearance for the Brownsburg girls.

Last season, the Bulldogs finished 10th at the 2018 IHSAA Shelbyville Semi-State.

Individually, Brooke Dixon finished 10th to advance to the 2018 IHSAA Cross Country State Finals.

Boys

The Brownsburg boys have notched a Semi-State appearance every year this decade. Their highest finish was a seventh-place performance in 2012.

Last season, the Bulldogs finished 8th at the 2018 IHSAA Shelbyville Semi-State.

     The Lineup

The Brownsburg boys line up is the same as it has been since the start of postseason meets. Freeman, Nolan, Jacob KodrickPanin SkilesKole KelleyBrett Heckman and Adin Rademacher will compete for the Bulldogs. 

On the girls side, Dixon, Emma CougillKiley VanNessAlivia GistrowskyIsabella Maihofer, Olivia Limbil and Sophie Britton will run for the Bulldogs.
