Bulldogs Split with Millers

The Bulldogs split a pair of HCC games this past weekend against the Noblesville Millers in excited fashion.  Friday night and Saturday afternoon both saw some free baseball as the Bulldogs and the Millers took things into extra innings in both games.  On Friday night, at Noblesville, The Bulldogs fell behind in the third 4-1 to the Millers but quickly rallied back to tie the game off of a couple of RBI hits from Jordan Jones and Logan Kabrich.  The Dogs and the Millers both tacked on another run over the next 3 innings until the Bulldogs were able to load the bases in the top of the 8th and add 3 runs to bring the score to 8-6.  Garrett Copley threw 6 great innings before handing the ball over to Jordan Jones who was able to get out of the 7th and Tyler Bireley closed things out in the 8th.

On Saturday morning, it was another scrappy, back-and-forth game between the Dogs and the Millers.  Bireley was on the mound again for the Dogs and kept the Millers offense in check as the teams threw up 3 runs each over the first 6 innings.  Sam Hughes took over in the 6th and shut down the Millers before handing the ball over to Logan Kabrich who was able to take the game into the bottom of the 7th with the Dogs down 4-3.  In the bottom of the 7th, a double down the right field line by Tyler Bireley was able to score Cameron Martin from first to extend the game into extra innings.  Unfortunately, the Millers were able to plate one run in the top of the 8th and the Dogs were unable to match.  The Bulldogs will face McCutcheon and HSE this week before heading into the sectional tournament.
