# Irish Defeat Bulldogs

The Bulldogs dropped a mid-week nonconference matchup to #2 Cathedral last night by the score of 8-3.  The Irish jumped on the board quickly with a first inning Grand Slam followed up by a 2-run second inning to start with a 6-0 lead.  Senior Drew Stratton was able to come in relief in the 3^rd and quickly quiet the Irish bats, throwing 3 1/3 innings and allowing only 1 unearned run. After Stratton was able to get the Dogs out of a pinch in the 3^rd, the Dogs were able to put 3 runs on the board behind Garrett Copley and Tyler Bireley RBI singles, but that was all the Dogs could generate at the plate.  The Bulldogs will start another HCC series tonight against Westfield.  The Westfield series has been rearranged a bit to accommodate potential severe weather and the Westfield prom.  The Bulldogs will face Westfield at home tonight and tomorrow night and will travel to Westfield on Friday.
