Bulldogs Defeat Panthers

The Bulldogs brought home a 13-3 victory over North Central last night in a Monday evening non-conference matchup.  The Bulldog offense was hot early, with Garrett Copley doubling to right and scoring on a Tyler Bireley Sac fly to center.  Senior Brandon Reid shut down the Panthers in the bottom half of the 1st to start the game with a 1-0 lead after one.  In the second, the flood gates opened and the Dogs were able to plate 7 runs on 5 hits, highlighted by a Logan Kabrich 3-run HR, his 2nd of the year.   Reid followed the big offense inning with 2 scoreless innings on the mound as he continued to cruise through the North Central line up.  In the top of the 4th, the Dogs were able to tack a few more runs on the board, with Luis Escalante scoring on a wild pitch and Kabrich and Cameron Martin scoring on a Charlie Esterline single up the middle.  That brought the score to 11-1 heading into the top of the 5th.  The Panthers were able to scratch a few runs across on Reid in the bottom half of the inning to extend the game, but the Dogs scored Kerrington Cross and Garrett Copley on a Tyler Bireley single to push the lead back to 13-3 heading into the bottom of the 7th.  After 5 2/3 innings of work, Brandon Reid passed the ball over to Sam Hughes who finished off the game without allowing a run.  The Bulldogs have a few days to rest before heading to Fishers on Thursday night for their next conference series.
