While Dodging Rain, Zionsville Tops Bulldogs

The Bulldogs dropped the series opener to Zionsville last night in a rain soaked, pitching duel.  The Eagles were able to jump on the board early with a double in the 1st that scored their leadoff runner, but the rally was ended quickly by Brandon Reid.  Reid followed the first inning with 4 scoreless before passing the ball off to senior Logan Kabrich.  In the 5th, the Eagles were able to sneak another run across, but the Dogs put one right back on the board to end the top of the 6th inning 2-1.  In the bottom of the 6th the Eagles added a run and the Bulldogs were unable to get anyone on base in the 7th to try and extend the game.  The pitching and defense for both teams was superb, with only one error and 9 hits between both teams it was hard for anyone to generate offense.  Kerrington Cross led the Bulldogs with 2 hits on the day.  The Bulldogs will wait and see what the weather allows for the rest of the series.  The Dogs are scheduled to travel to Zionsville tonight and then the Eagles will come to town on Friday to finish out the series.
