Girls' Compete at State Meet

The Bulldog Girls Swimming & Diving Team concluded a breakthrough season on Friday night at the IHSAA State Swimming & Diving Championships. Five Bulldogs competed in five events, recording a pair of team-high 20th place finishes.
"This meet is a pressure cooker but we went into it with two goals: Compete to the best of our ability and soak up the experience," Head Coach Josh Saylor said. "Our main goal all season was to win Sectionals and we did that. To have this many girls participate in State and be part of this atmosphere should help our program take the next step."
Senior Grace Fulwider finished 20th in the 100 Breaststroke and was part of the 200 Medley Relay that finished 20th, teaming with senior Tia Scoggan, junior Kierra Watson and sophomore Madison Kehr. Fulwider also finished 28th in the 200 Individual Medley.
Watson finished 35th in the 100 Butterfly and freshman AJ Moll finished 30th in the 500 Freestyle. On Tuesday night, freshman Danielle LeClerc finished 13th in the IHSAA Diving Regional at Plainfield. Fulwider, Kehr, LeClerc, Moll, Scoggan and Watson qualified for Regionals and State last weekend at Sectionals, where the Bulldogs claimed their first Sectional championship since 1990.
"For Grace and Tia, and their fellow seniors Delaney Krug and Chloe Wittig, this season was a definite high note to conclude their careers," Saylor said. "They've meant a lot to our program and provided great leadership this season. I know the younger girls have learned from their example and will be motivated to get back to this meet and move our program forward."
