Girls' Swim/Dive Opens with Convincing Win

The Bulldog Girls Swimming & Diving Team opened their season in strong fashion Tuesday night by winning 10 of 12 events and rolling to a 123-62 victory over the visiting Tri-West Bruins at the Bulldog Aquatic Center.

Seniors Grace Fulwider and Tia Scoggan and sophomore Madison Kehr were triple winners on the evening for the Dogs, while senior Chloe Wittig, junior Kierra Watson and freshman AJ Moll were double winners.

The Dogs swept all three relay events from the Bruins, displaying strong depth from start to finish. Kehr, Scoggan and Wittig teamed with junior Alyssa Smock to win the opening 200 Medley Relay, while Watson and Wittig teamed with senior Delaney Krug and junior Ashly Kraatz to win the 200 Freestyle Relay. Fulwider, Moll and Scoggan teamed with junior Megan Wolf to end the evening with a runaway victory in the 400 Freestyle Relay.

Individually, Scoggan won the 200 Individual Medley, leading a 1-2-3 sweep of the event with freshman Kaylee Propst and Wolf.

Fulwider (50 & 500 Freestyle) and Kehr (100 Freestyle, 100 Breaststroke) were double individual winners against the Bruins. Watson hit the wall first in the 200 Freestyle while Moll led a 1-2 finish in the 100 Backstroke with junior Brianna LaPaugh.

In their career debut, the new Bulldog diving team also turned in a strong performance, with freshman Danielle LeClerc, junior Madison Lesko and freshman Alli O'Leary finishing 2-3-4 on the boards.

"The girls love this meet and always impress," Head Coach Josh Saylor said. "We had a lot of great efforts tonight that we can build from as the stakes get bigger throughout the season. The girls are committed to the team goal of winning Sectionals, and tonight was a good first step."

The Bulldogs (1-0) return to action on Tuesday, November 26, traveling to Mooresville for a 5:30pm contest against the host Pioneers as well as Hendricks County rival Cascade.
