Girls' Swimmers move to 3-0

The Bulldog Girls Swimming & Diving Team upped its season record to 3-0 by winning 9 of 12 events in Mooresville on Tuesday night, defeating the host Pioneers 135-49 and topping Hendricks County rival Cascade 135-100.
For the second meet in a row, the Dogs displayed quality depth, sweeping the relay events. Seniors Delaney Krug and Chloe Wittig, junior Kierra Watson and freshman AJ Moll opened the meet with a win in the 200 Medley Relay. Two more seniors - Grace Fulwider and Tia Scoggan - teamed with junior Alyssa Smock and sophomore Madison Kehr to win the 200 Freestyle Relay. And Fulwider, Kehr and Krug wrapped up the evening by winning the 400 Freestyle Relay along with junior Megan Wolf.
Scoggan was part of a pair of 1-2 finishes on the night, in addition to her relay victory. Scoggan touched first in the 50 Freestyle followed by Wittig, and followed Watson to the wall in a 1-2 finish in the 100 Breaststroke. Watson picked up a second individual victory on the night by winning the 100 Freestyle.
Fulwider (200 Freestyle), Kehr (200 Individual Medley) and Wittig (100 Backstroke) all added individual victories to their relay tallies on the night.
The Bulldog divers all improved on their scores from their first meet, with freshman Danielle LaClerc, junior Madison Lesko and freshman Alli O'Leary finishing second, fourth and seventh, respectively.
"Taking a team on the road is always a learning experience but our girls delivered a strong performance tonight and it's encouraging," said Bulldog Head Coach Josh Saylor.
"These early season meets give us a chance to build depth and experiment with different event. But they also create a sense of anticipation for what's to come. The girls have competed well in their first two outings and I'm very pleased. But the heat turns up after the Thanksgiving break and we need to be ready to respond to the challenge."
