Swimming Sweeps Ben Davis

The Brownsburg Boys & Girls Swimming & Diving Team entered the stretch run of the season on Tuesday, traveling to Ben Davis and registering resounding wins over the Giants. The girls rolled to a 137-40 victory while the boys put up a 118-65 win.
"Both teams brought enthusiasm and energy tonight," Head Coach Josh Saylor said. "We're getting close to the championship season where the team expects to be at its best, and to see us race so well is evidence that we're getting ready to explode at the biggest meets on our schedule."
The Bulldog girls won 11-12 events and swept the top 3 places in 5 events, including the opening 200 Medley Relay, with the quartet of seniors Grace Fulwider and Delaney Krug, junior Kierra Watson and freshman Kaylee Propst touching first.
Propst picked up her first career individual win in the 100 Backstroke and was part of a 1-2-3 sweep of the 200 Individual Medley, finishing second behind classmate AJ Moll and ahead of junior Alyssa Smock. Watson lead a 1-2-3 sweep of the 100 Breaststroke ahead of sophomore Hope McQueen and Smock. Smock and Watson teamed with Moll and senior Chloe Wittig to win the 200 Freestyle Relay.
Junior Clarice Cross won the first race of her career in the 100 Freestyle while junior Megan Wolf won the 100 Butterfly. Freshman Danielle LeClerc posted a career best with an impressive win in diving.
Sophomore Madison Kehr, Wittig and junior Brianna LaPaugh swept the 50 Freestyle while senior Tia Scoggan, Krug and freshman Allie Miller finished 1-2-3 in the 500 Freestyle. Fulwider, Kehr, Moll and junior Ashly Kraatz won the 400 Freestyle Relay.
Senior Donnie Spencer and juniors Kyle Baney and Cameron Howard were double relay winners for the Bulldog boys, who swept all three relay events. Howard teamed with Baney and juniors Joe Ancel and Diego La Torre to win the 200 Medley Relay while Howard and Spencer teamed with senior Bradley Green and junior Chad Hale to win the 200 Freestyle Relay. Baney, Spencer, junior Jimmy Breedlove and sophomore Vince Partlow teamed to win the 400 Freestyle Relay.
Individually, Partlow won the 100 Freestyle while Breedlove lead a 1-2-3 sweep of the 200 Freestyle with Spencer and junior Hunter Dahlke. Ancel won the 100 Butterfly, senior Jared Krug won the 500 Freestyle and junior Adam Moll won the 100 Backstroke.
"Our last two meets have have seen a lot of great racing and it feels like we're emerging from the heavy training over Christmas break, just like we're supposed to," Saylor said. "This team is poised for big things."
The Dogs return to the pool on Thursday, January 23, traveling to Crawfordsville for a 6:30pm contest with the Athenians.
