Boys' Soccer falls short of comeback vs HSE in conference opener

By Drew Sandifer

The Brownsburg boys' soccer team opened up conference play in the HCC with a match with No. 8 Hamilton Southeastern on August 25 at The Pitch. It was the Royals that got out to a fast start in this one as three different HSE players found the back of the net before the halftime break. Then, in the 60th minute, a fourth Royal extended the lead to 4-0 for HSE.

While the Bulldogs could have mailed in the remaining 20 minutes of the match, they increased their intensity and scored off of a Max Harris shot over the keeper in the 68th minute and the first varsity goal in Grant Porath's young Brownsburg career off of an assist from Harris in the next minute.

While Brownsburg had the momentum in the match, there was not enough time on the clock to make the comeback. HSE remains undefeated on the season while the Bulldogs are still seeking their first win of the young campaign.

The JV boys fell to the JV Royals 7-2. Carter Salzman scored for the Dogs.

Brownsburg will take the pitch next at Southport at 11 AM on Saturday.
