Bulldogs Drop Game to HSE

The Bulldogs dropped the opening game of their HSE series 5-4 in 9 innings.  The Dogs fell behind early giving up 3 runs in the 2^ndinning, but battled back over the course of the next few innings.  After the 2^nd inning, senior RHP Caleb Sampen held the Royals scoreless into the 8^th inning before handing the ball over to senior RHP Michael Klayer.  In the top of the 4^th the Dogs scored 1 run when senior Owen Gilbert scored Sampen on a double to right.  The Dogs tied the game in the top of the 6^th on another big hit from Gilbert that scored senior Jacson McGowan and Sampen.  In the top of the 8^th, the Dogs took the lead when Ryan Schutte (running for McGowan) scored on an Anthony Travelsted single to right.  Unfortunately, the Royals rallied in the bottom of the 8^thto tie the game and were able to win in the bottom of the ninth.  The Dogs move to 13-11 (8-8 HCC) and will host the Royals tonight on Senior Night.
