Bulldogs Defeat Covenant

The Bulldogs won their third straight ball game last night with an 11-1 victory over Covenant Christian.  Senior LHP Matt Rollyson started the game and pitched all 6 innings.  He struck out 5 batters, gave up only 1 run on 3 hits and 0 walks to earn his first victory of the season. Offensively, the Dogs spread out the hits with 8 players getting at least 1 hit on the night.  In the second inning the Bulldogs opened up the scoring with senior CF Ryan Robbins reaching base and scoring on a couple wild pitches supplied by the Covenant pitcher.  After that, the Dogs opened up the scoring in the 4th with 8 runs on 6 hits highlighted by doubles from senior Travis Mears, senior Owen Gilbert, and senior Caleb Sampen.  In the bottom of the sixth, sophomores Cameron Martin and Brandon Reid were able to add to more runs to close out the game off of an RBI single from senior Brad Guilinger and a sacrifice fly from senior Michael Klayer.  The Bulldogs move to 5-3 (2-1 HCC).  Offensive leaders for the night:  Brad Guilinger (2/2, 1 run, 1 RBI), Ryan Robbins (1/1, 2 runs, 1 RBI), Owen Gilbert (1/3, 1 2B, 2 RBIs).
