Westfield Blanks Brownsburg

The Bulldogs dropped the opening HCC series game against Westfield last night 8-0.  The game was a close one early on as both pitchers were successful keeping the opponents bats cold, but Westfield was able to break open the pitchers duel in the fifth inning and eventually take home the win.  Senior RHP Caleb Sampen threw 5 innings and allowed only 3 earned runs, but that was not enough as the Bulldogs were unable to help him out at the plate.  Sophomore Logan Kabrich and senior Matt Rollyson supplied the rest of the innings on the mound.  At the plate, the Bulldogs were only able to reach base 4 times on two hits.  Senior Anthony Travelsted provided the first hit of the game in the bottom of the sixth to break the no-hitter and Caleb Sampen followed in the bottom of the the to lead off the inning, but that was all the offense that the Dogs could provide against a very good Westfield pitcher.  The Bulldogs travel to Westfield tonight and will host the Shamrock Saturday morning to finish of the series.  The Bulldogs move to 9-5 (5-2 HCC
