Dogs Drop Two Tough Games This Weekend

To this point, our Varsity Boys Basketball team has played the third most difficult schedule in the state of Indiana as ranked by Jeff Sagarin. The Dogs, (2-5, 1-2 in HCC), dropped two close ones this weekend. On Friday night Brownsburg used its tenacious man-to-man defense to jump out to an early and exciting nine point first quarter lead against the visiting Avon Orioles. Unfortunately we couldn't hold on eventually falling 51-54. BHS was led by Junior Trevor Lucas who had 13 points. K.J. Walton and Tyler Houston were also both in double figures each adding 11. Gerald Harney led the team in assists and pitched in eight points.

Saturday Night the boys visited the #5 ranked Ben Davis Giants. The varsity team dug an early 9 point hole   Using an aggressive half-court trap the Dogs battled back in the second half but ran out of gas losing 55-64. Lucas led Brownsburg again with 15 points and 5 boards coming off the bench.  K.J. had 13 points and 3 steals. The Ringo brothers, Xavier and Darrian, applied much of the defensive pressure after the break and added 9 and 7 points respectively.  For the second consecutive night Tyler Houston took on our opponents leading scorer and shut him down. Take a break from shopping and come root for the Purple and White as we take on Bowman Academy this Friday night in the Midwest Showcase at John Marshal High School.
