Girls' XC Advances to Semi-State

The Girls' Cross Country team is on their way back to the Carmel Semi-State thanks to some tough running and strong finishes in a close race where every point mattered. Senior Julia Popenfoose had the best day of her career as she set a new personal record by an incredible 28 seconds and finished just 3 seconds off the all-time school record with a time of 18:50. She becomes just the 5th runner in school history to run the 3.1 miles in under 19:00. Cassidy Brown and Sydni Montgomery were not far behind as they continued to come in as the team's 2nd and 3rd runners and putting up crucial low point totals for the team. Stepping up in the 4th and 5th spots Sophomores Olivia Zoog and Rachel Graham passed opponents down the stretch for what eventually sealed the teams' spot to advance another week. Wrapping up the pack for the girls were Laura Sanders and Emily Truax, who each ran a gutsy race of their own. Congratulations to the entire team on a great accomplishment and best of luck next Saturday!
