Girls show their 2nd place finish

Boys' & Girls' XC Compete at Martinsville Invite

The boys' cross-country team ran to a 7th place finish out of 14 teams at the Artesian Classic at Martinsville High School Saturday morning. Hari Sathyamurthy once again led the Dog attack with a top 10 finish, while teammates Seth Webster, Marcus Fierek, and Devon Boone ran strong races on the day.

The junior varsity Bulldogs had an outstanding morning on the 5K course, as Michael Powell, Ethan Huntsman, Keaton Mills, Riley Koester, and Zach Underwood all crushed their times on the same course last year by up to four minutes!

It was the best Saturday of the season so far for the Girls' Cross Country team as they took on 13 other teams and placed 2nd overall, only behind a very strong Columbus North squad, ranked #6 in the State. Running a smart and aggressive race all the way through the girls showed their hard work is definitely paying off. Top 25 girls receiving medals (out of 95 individuals) were Brooke U'Ren 24th, Sydni Montgomery 17th, Cassidy Brown 9th, and Julia Popenfoose in 7th. Freshman Emily Truax also stepped up big contributing very important points in the number 5 spot for the team with her best race of the season. Sophomores Laura Sanders and Olivia Zoog rounded out the pack with nice races of their own.

In the reserve race the girls continued to put up impressive times that show a growing depth among the team. Leading the way was Freshman Kierstyn U'Ren with her best time of the season at 22:31. Following close behind also in their best times so far were Brianna Channon, Rachel Graham, Jessica Morris, Alex Smock, and Diana Medlen. Great job to the entire team on a great weekend!
