Girls' XC Places 5th at Regional

With a great performance at Regionals on Saturday the Girls' Cross Country team achieved the goal they have been working so hard for all season by advancing to the Carmel Semi-State! Cold temperatures, rain, and mud didn't keep the 7 Bulldogs from flying around the course, several even reaching season best times in the process. Junior Julia Popenfoose set her all-time best once again at 19:50 and placing 13th just in front of her classmate Cassidy Brown in 17th. A major contribution came from the middle of the pack as Junior Alex Smock rose to the occasion with her best race of the season when it was needed the most finishing in an impressive 21:17. Coming through the line in a strong return from an injury was Sophomore Allison Hering at 21:23. Brianna Channon picked up very important points as the teams 5th runner with Mackenzie Vondersaar putting in a gutsy performance of her own to finish close behind. Freshman Caroline Johnson rounded out the pack by making her Varsity debut and reaching one of her best times of the season. Congratulations to the entire team on a job well done!
