Bulldogs Drop a Tough Battle to Ben Davis

Tuesday night the varsity softball team closed its season out with a 6-11 loss to Ben Davis.  The Bulldog battery of Kayle Comer and Tori Martin picked up the rain-delayed game from Monday in the third inning and came out strong with the help of their defense, sitting down six straight batters in the third and fourth innings.  Rachel Fiscus also came in to throw for three big outs of her own in the fifth.  Even though the Giants' hitting led to eight additional runs in the closing innings, the Dogs fought hard to the end and rallied with four runs of their own in the top of the seventh.  Leading the offense and defense was a determined Krystal Shirrell with three hits, including a double, two clutch RBIs, and five assists.  Martin added two hits and Kirsten Bartlett had a two-RBI hit with two outs in the seventh.  Senior Shayne Zoller ended her high school softball career in fine fashion, earning a hit and a run on her final inning in a Bulldog uniform.  A special thanks goes to Coach Miller and Coach Harris for their efforts in the dugout, and to Coach Bingham, Mr. Hill, and Mr. Daghe, along with all the other parents and fans for coming out to support the Lady Bulldogs last night, as well as all those who did so throughout the season.
