Softball goes 1-1 at Lawrence Central Invitational

Over the weekend, the varsity softball team split games at the Lawrence Central Invitational.  The girls had a hard time getting the offense going in the first game against Logan Elm (Ohio).  With no help from seemingly gale force winds, Sarah Callis, Krystal Shirrell, and Tori Martin all had hits, but the team couldn't overcome a 4-1 deficit in the end.  In the second game against Lawrence North, the Dogs came on strong to get a 9-1 victory thanks to solid pitching and a more productive offense.  Kayle Comer got the win on the mound with six strikeouts and only three hits allowed.  Comer, Martin, Astrid Koose, and Kirsten Bartlett all had two hits for the game, and Callis drove in three runs.
