Softball Goes 1-1 in Crawfordsville Invite

Over the weekend the varsity softball team split games at the Crawfordsville Invitational.  In the opener against Scecina, the Dogs got the lead early and held on until the fifth, when Crusaders drove in runs in the closing innings of the game.  Sarah Callis, Kayle Comer, Chelsea ConoverTori Martin, and Shayne Zoller all had hits for the girls in the 3-7 effort.  In the second game against Crawfordsville, the Dogs rebounded from the earlier loss to secure an 8-0 victory against the Athenians.  Kayle Comer, who allowed only three hits in five innings, and Rachel Fiscus, with one hit in two innings, pitched the first shutout of the season for the Dogs.  Offensive highlights included a three-run homer by Krystal Shirrell and two-hit performances from Callis, Comer, and Zoller.  Our Lady Bulldogs will use this victory as a springboard going into sectionals, where they are aiming to cut down the Giants of Ben Davis in the first round on Monday.  Cheer on those softball Dogs at 4:30 at Ben Davis!
