Bulldogs Defeat #4 Greyhounds
Saturday the boys basketball team travelled to Carmel to take on the number 4 ranked Greyhounds. Brownsburg got off to a great start and lead 16-9 after the first quarter. The first quarter accounted for almost 50% of the game's scoring. Carmel tightened up their defense and both teams struggled to score the ball. Brownsburg led at half 24-18 and while only scoring 3 points in the 3rd period on a huge 3 pointer by Darrian Ringo, the Dogs still clung to a 1 point lead 27-26. The fourth quarter saw a back and forth battle between the state ranked teams with Carmels best player making two free throws for 33-32 lead with 50 seconds left to play. Brownsburg took a timeout with 17 seconds to play to set up a final play. With 6 seconds left Landon Hall passed to KJ Walton who drove the lane and was fouled with 3.5 seconds remaining. KJ calmly sank both free throws for a 34-33 lead. Tyler Kirtz was fouled after stealing a full court pass and made both of his free throws for the final 36-33 win over the 13-1 Greyhounds. The Dogs only made 33% of their field goal attempts but committed a season low three turnovers for the game. They had 6 assists (3 from Ringo and 3 from Kirtz). Although scoring was difficult, the Dogs played with great poise on offense. Brownsburg never allowed Carmel more than 9 points in a quarter. KJ Walton scored 21 points for the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs have never won at Carmel and it is the Greyhounds first loss at home in more than 2 seasons. Great team win! GO DOGS!
