Bulldogs Down East Chicago in Forum Tip-Off Classic

Playing their first double weekend of the season, the Bulldogs played East Chicago in a Showcase event hosted at Southport High School Saturday afternoon.  With some of the state's best talent and several fans and college coaches watching, your Bulldogs raced out to an early lead an hung on to defeat the Cardinals 60-56.  Stuffing the stat sheet with coach Lynch's favorite numbers, the Bulldogs made 78% of their 32 free throw attempts and committed only 12 turnovers against a team known for its defensive pressure and full court pressing.  Senior KJ Walton recorded his second double double of the weekend scoring 28 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.  Walton was by far from the only contributor as Jordache Mavunga grabbed 7 rebounds to go with his 12 points and a charge that earned him major points with the head coach.  Landon Hall chipped in 8 points.  Landon had a steal and score that was recorded and posted on Fox 59 as shot of the week nomination.  Dalton Vachon was very active and made 3 or four impactful plays in the fourth quarter when the game was still in doubt grabbing a couple critical offensive rebounds and a loose ball that kept the Dogs in possession and control of the game.  Dalton was quick to remind coach Lynch he still has more charges than Jordache on the season.  Great job to the Dogs as they move their record to 3-1 and moved up to number 4 in the state rankings.  Their only loss coming to #1 ranked Southport.  The Bulldogs will be back in action Saturday at home vs Lebanon.  They will be selling spirit T-shirts and Hall of Fame tickets all week in the cafeteria during lunch to BHS students.
