Bulldogs Play in Hall of Fame Classic

Saturday the Brownsburg Boys Basketball team had the great opportunity to participate in the City Securities Hall of Fame Classic in New Castle.  Three of the four teams came into the Classic ranked in the state.  Brownsburg defeated Penn High School 45-31.  Trailing at halftime 15-13, the Bulldogs scored 32 points in the second half to take control of the game.  Penn was averaging 68 ppg was held to a season low 31 points.  Kj Walton lead the Bulldogs with 24 points with Darrian Ringo chipping in 10 points and 5 steals.  Jordache Mavunga recorded his third doubled figure rebound game of the season with 11 rebounds.  Seven of the eight players to enter the game scored as Brownsburg defeated the fifth ranked team they have played this season. 

With a morning victory over state ranked Penn High School, the Bulldogs got a rematch with number 1 ranked Southport, the only team to defeat Brownsburg this season.  Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, the Cardinals came out with a great performance and defeated the Bulldogs 66-49.  The Cardinals outrebounded the bulldogs 30-18, while playing great defense and limiting Brownsburg opportunities.  Brownsburg made a great run in the second quarter to cut the lead to 25-20 at halftime.  After an early scored by Brownsburg, Southport extended the lead to double figures.  Another rally to start the fourth quarter by the Bulldogs showed they had plenty of fight left but it was not be as Southport scored several scores inside by tournament MVP Joey Brunk.  KJ Walton lead the Bulldogs in scoring with 23 and made the All-Tournament team.  Jordache Mavunga again grabbed the most rebounds though limited to just 5.  Brownsburg ends 2014 with a 7-2 record and top 10 ranking.  Bulldogs will be back in action in 2015 with games against Frankfort(Friday-home) and Pike (Saturday-away)
