Runner-up Finish for Swim/Dive

The Bulldog Boys Swimming & Diving Team capped a successful season with a runner-up finish on Saturday at the IHSAA Sectional. The Bulldogs edged Pike in a close battle for the second spot behind champion and host North Central.
Senior Captains Joel Paquin and Joe Perkins capped memorable careers for the Bulldogs on Saturday. Paquin recorded a team high third place finish in the 500 Freestyle and finished fourth in the 200 Freestyle. Perkins finished fifth in the 200 Freestyle and eighth in the 100 Freestyle. Paquin teamed with sophomore Bradley Green and freshmen Kyle Baney and Diego LaTorre for another third place in the 400 Freestyle, while Paquin and Perkins teamed with junior Kasey Cross and freshman Joe Ancel for fifth in the 200 Freestyle Relay.
Ancel and Green also recorded third place finishes at Sectionals. Ancel added third in the 100 Breaststroke to his sixth place in the 200 IM, while Green finished third in the 100 Butterfly. Ancel, Baney, Green and LaTorre teamed to finish fourth in the 200 Medley Relay.
Baney (7th - 200 IM), Cross (8th - 100 Butterfly) and LaTorre (5th - 100 Freestyle, 8th - 50 Freestyle) all recorded top eight finishes, as did sophomore Grant Anspach, who finished sixth in the 100 Freestyle and seventh in the 200 Freestyle. Junior Grason Horvath had a strong day, tallying a career best score for seventh in diving.
Other outstanding finishes were turned in by sophomores Jared Krug (10th - 100 Backstroke) and Donnie Spencer (9th - 100 Butterfly) and freshmen Jimmy Breedlove (11th - 100 Backstroke), Hunter Dahlke (15th - 100 Breaststroke), Chad Hale (10th - 500 Freestyle) and Adam Moll (14th - 100 Backstroke)
