Boys' and Girls' Swim to 3rd Place Finish in County Meet

The Bulldog Swimming & Diving Teams wrapped up the first semester with a strong performance at the Hendricks County Invitational on Saturday. Both teams finished third behind champions Avon and runners-up Plainfield, but the young Bulldogs had many outstanding performances.

Leading the way for the Bulldog boys was senior Joel Paquin. Paquin tallied individual second place finishes in the 200 & 500 Freestyle, and teamed with senior Joe Perkins, junior Kasey Cross and freshman Kyle Baney to finish second in the 200 Freestyle Relay.

Freshman Diego LaTorre finished second in the 100 Freestyle, and teamed with with Baney, Paquin and freshman Joe Ancel for third place in the 400 Freestyle Relay. Ancel, Cross and LaTorre teamed with sophomore Grant Anspach for third in the 200 Medley Relay.

Junior Madeline Ketchem was the top performer for the girls, finishing second in the 100 Butterfly and fourth in the 100 Backstroke. Sophomore Chloe Wittig had two fourth place finishes (200 IM & 500 Freestyle) and sophomore Grace Fulwider finished fourth in the 100 Breaststroke.

Fulwider and Ketchem teamed with senior Elizabeth Ancel and freshman Kierra Watson to finish third in the 200 Medley Relay. Ancel, Watson and Wittig teamed with sophomore Anna Miller to finish fourth in the 200 Freestyle Relay. And Fulwider, Ketchem and Wittig teamed with freshman Brianna LaPaugh to finish fourth in the 400 Freestyle Relay.

Both teams now enter the important winter training period but will return to action on Friday, December 30, traveling to Purdue University for the Lafayette Harrison Endurance Invitational. Diving begins at 9:30 a.m. while swimming kicks off at 10:30 a.m.
