Baseball Loses to Fishers In 13 Innings

The varsity baseball team lost in a 13 inning heartbreaker to Fishers on the final game of the regular season.  Junior Ty McCoy started the game for the Bulldogs and worked 6.1 innings in his no-decision.  The Bulldogs got down early 2-0 in the first on a couple of singles by Fishers.  In the 3rd inning the Dogs were able to score Mike Hartnagel on a Haden Shipman single up the middle.  In the fourth inning, the Dogs dropped another run and entered the 5th inning with a 3-1 deficit.  In the bottom of the 7th, the Bulldogs were able to score Garrett Isch and Hartnagel on a Tyler Houston double to the gap.  In extra innings, senior Haden Shipman was able to keep the score tied 3-3 through the 11th inning before junior David LeClerc came in and kept the score tied through the 12th.  In the bottom of the 13th inning the Tigers were finally able to score after an infield hit and a throwing error.  The 13-inning battle was well played by both sides.  The Bulldogs end the regular season 14-9 with at 9-8 record in the HCC.  Sectionals begin Wednesday, May 22ndat Avon High School and the Dogs will face the Decatur Central Hawks in round one.
