Baseball Celebrates Seniors With A Win Over Fishers

The varsity baseball team beat Fishers in an exciting Senior Night ball game last night at Mary Beth Rose Park.  In a back-and-forth battle the Bulldogs came out ahead of their HCC foe 5-4.  The Dogs jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on a Tyler Houston solo home run, his 6th of the season, but the score was quickly knotted back at 1-1 on a Fishers home run to left field.  The Bulldogs took the lead in the 3rd when Mike Hartnagel squeezed by a play at the plate after a Tyler Houston double.  In the top of the 4th, the Bulldogs lost the lead and went down 4-2.  In the Bottom of the 5th, senior Mike Hartnagel tied the score back at 4's on a 2-run home run to right field.  With the score tied and two outs in the bottom of the 7th Mike Hartnagel and Tyler Houston both drew walks, Hartnagel stole third base on a dropped ball by the catcher, and then senior Haden Shipman hit an 0-2 fastball back up the middle to score the winning run.  Dalton Carter started the game on the mound and David LeClerc and Caleb Sampen both provided innings in relieve, but senior Haden Shipman collected the win after stopping a potential go-ahead rally by the Tigers in the top of the 7th.  The Dogs move to 14-8 on the season and finish their regular season schedule tonight at Fishers.
