Buldogs Squeak By HCC Foe Avon

The Bulldogs beat HCC and cross-town rival Avon last night in a thrilling 8-7 game.  Senior Dalton Carter started the game on the bump and took the Dogs into the 5^th inning with a 7-2 lead giving up only 2 unearned runs.  In the 5^th, the Orioles came alive offensively and tied the score back at 7-7 before junior Ty McCoy could shut them down.  In the 6^th inning, both teams went scoreless and in the top of the 7^th, McCoy was able to hold the Orioles to a blank.  The bottom of the seventh was an exciting one for the Bulldogs.  With one out, junior Mike Hartnagel hit a double to the rightfield gap and stole third base to set up a 2 out game-winning single by junior Cody Gill. Offensively, Hartnagel went 3-5 with a double and a triple, Cody Gill went 3-5, and senior Garrett Isch went 2-3 with 3 RBIs.  The Bulldogs move to 9-5 on the season and 4-4 in the HCC and a tie for 3^rd place for the conference
