Girls' Basketball Advances in Sectional

The Varsity Girls' Basketball Team advanced in Sectional play with a 47-45 victory last night over Terre Haute South.  Reilly Olmstead hit two quick 3 point shots in the first quarter to give the Dogs' an 8-7 advantage after the first quarter of action.  The Dogs attacked the paint in the second quarter, increasing the lead to 3 at the half, 22-19.  The Dogs outscored the Braves in the third quarter behind Aliyah Walker's powerful post moves.  The Dogs entered the final quarter up, 33-27.  The Braves turned up their defense in the final quarter forcing turnover after turnover.  The Braves tied the score at 43 with 1:02 remaining to play.  The Dogs played terrific defense and forced the Braves to turn the ball over on a 5 second inbounds call.  The Dogs controlled the ball and got it down to Aliyah on the block.  Aliyah was double teamed on the block but found an open Hannah Linville who hit the layup to give the Dogs the advantage with 11.7 to play!  The Dogs did a great job hanging on to the win and advancing to play Martinsville in the second round of the IHSAA state tournament.

Aliyah Walker scored a game high 19 points, grabbed 16 rebounds and had 5 blocks.   Reilly Olmstead added 11 points and grabbed 6 rebounds.  Chazney Jones pulled down 8 boards and had 2 steals.  Zhane Roper chipped in 7 points and 7 boards.  Hannah and Daija Middlebrook did a great job defending THS top guards.

Great effort tonight!  The game time on Friday night, 6:00 p.m.  Come out and support your Dogs!
