Bulldogs Defeat Indy Shortridge

The Varsity Girls' Basketball team traveled downtown to Indianapolis Shortridge on Friday night to earn their 12th victory of the season defeating the Blue Devils, 64-54.  Hannah Linville started the Dogs off, hitting back to back three pointers.  The Dogs trailed 11-14 after the first eight minutes of action.  The Dogs picked up the defense in the second quarter, holding the Blue Devils to 8 points in the second quarter.  Aliyah Walker and Tyon McKenzie combined for 11 of the Dogs 17 second quarter points.  The Dogs took were up entering the half, 28-22.

 

The teams played even in the third quarter, trading baskets.  Devin Courtney came alive in the third scoring 7 of her 13 points in the quarter.  The Dogs maintained a 46-39 advantage as they entered the final quarter.  The Dogs showed some awesome mental toughness as they stepped to the free throw line and hit 14 of 16 free throws in the final quarter to seal the victory.

 

Aliyah Walker had a game high 21 points, 20 rebounds and 6 blocks.  Aliyah hit 7 of 8 free throws down the stretch. Devin Courtney added 13 points and pulled down 7 boards.  Hannah Linville was on fire behind the three point arc, draining three 3's on the night.  Daija Middlebrook finished with 8 points, hitting her first 3 of the season. Tyon finished with 6 points and 2 steals
