Bulldogs Lose to Southport in Home Opener
The boys' track team opened its first home track meet of the season Tuesday by dropping a close contest against Southport. There were many outstanding performances by the Dogs, led by Blakelyn Green in the long jump, taking first with a personal best mark of 21' 3". In the pole vault, taking first with a jump of 14', was Dillon Easley, followed by Kurt Darling with a leap of 13 feet. In the high jump, clearing 5'10" and taking first, was Jeremy Shupperd. Wyatt Rondot was a double winner by breaking the tape in the 1600 and 3200 with times of 4:44 and 10:16, respectively. Elliott Shaw followed Rondot in the 1600 with a strong run runner-up finish. Placing first in the 800 was Daniel Purdy with a time of 2:08, while Matt Phillips won the 400 in 52.9 seconds. The Dogs claimed the last event of the evening by winning the 4x400 relay in a time of 3:37. The team members were Green, Phillips, Darling, and Torrey Nibbs.
