Boys' Swimming & Diving finishes 10th at state, net five individual/relay top tens

The Brownsburg Boys' Swimming & Diving team placed tenth at the 2021 IHSAA Boys' Swimming & Diving State Finals on Feb. 27 at the IU Natatorium, placing five individual and relays in the top ten of their respective heat. The Bulldogs logged 72.5 team points in the Final.

The 200 Medley relay team of JJ Schmidt, Jake Johnson, Austin Kehr and Caleb Peschke finished seventh in the opening 200 Medley Relay event with a time of 1:34.38. Johnson would follow with a 14th place finish in the 200 IM with a time of 1:55.37.

Austin Kehr recorded a 20.89 second time in the 50 Free, good for eighth in the State Final. Then, Kehr returned after a 50-minute technological delay to finish tied for fith in the 100 Free with a time of 45.29 seconds. Kehr's finish in the 100 Free was the highest place finish for any Brownsburg swimmer on the day.

The 200 Free Relay team of Caleb Peschke, Jake Johnson, Lee Grimes and Austin Kehr finished in 10th place with a time of 1:25.84, just three-tenths of a second from winning the consolation final. Jake Johnson returned to wrap up the event for Brownsburg with a 10th place finish in the 100 Breast with a time of 57.29, nearly a full half-second faster than his seed time.

The 10th-place finish at the State Finals wraps up a season with vcitories at the Brownsburg Invitational, Bulldog Relays, Floyd Central Invite, a third place finish at HCCs and the team's eighth consecutive Sectional Championship.
