No. 6 Boys' Swimming earns 8th-straight Sectional Championship; sets seven pool records

The Brownsburg Boys' Swimming & Diving team dominated their way through IHSAA Sectional 13, winning their eighth-straight Sectional Championship as a program. The 6th-ranked team in the state won 10 of 12 events en route to scoring 565 points in the Sectional Finals, over double the next closest school.

The Bulldogs set seven pool records on the day and one school record. JJ Schmidt swam the 100 Back in a blistering 52.98 seconds, good for fastest in Brownsburg history. Pool records included the 200 Medley Relay team of Schmidt, Jake Johnson, Austin Kehr and Caleb Peschke (1:36.05), Peschke's 1:43.53 time in the 200 Free, Kehr's 20.94 seconds time in the 50 Free and 45.67 second time in the 100 Free, Peschke, Johnson, Lee Grimes and Kehr's 1:26.70 time posted in the 200 Free Relay and Johnson's 100 Breast time of 58.61

Other sectional championships were Johnson's 200 IM, which was swam in 1:58.60 and the 400 Relay team of Grimes, Scott Hasselbrinck, Jamie Cameron and Schmidt with a time of 3:17.56.

Myles Grant clinched the Diving Sectional Championship before even attempting his final dive, but completed the event with a score of 443.70.

Up next: Grant will advance to the Diving Regionals on Tuesday, Feb. 23 at Plainfield High School while the swimmers who advance to state will compete in the IHSAA Swimming State Finals on Friday, Feb. 26 and Saturday, Feb. 27.
