Boys' & Girls' Swim/Dive Post Strong Results at HCC Meet

A challenging but productive Christmas break for the Brownsburg Swimming & Diving Team wrapped up in strong fashion Saturday, when the Bulldogs took on a deep and competitive field at the Hoosier Crossroads Conference Invitational at Purdue. The girls won a close battle with McCutcheon for the second time in three days, finishing in 7th place by a slight 10 point margin over the Mavericks. The boys were in a back and forth battle all day with several teams including Noblesville and Westfield. When the dust finally settled, the Bulldogs were 5th overall, ahead of the Shamrocks and Millers.

Senior Madeline Ketchem (100 Butterfly) and junior Grace Fulwider (100 Breaststroke) both recorded a team high fourth place finish individually for the girls. Both girls also combined forces on a pair of successful relays, starting the meet with a sixth place finish in the 200 Medley Relay with sophomore Kierra Watson and freshman Madison Kehr. The same foursome would finish eighth in the 400 Freestyle Relay.

Watson picked up a pair of top 10 finishes in the 200 IM (9th) and the 100 Backstroke (10th). And the 200 Freestyle Relay team of senior Kristin Verpe, juniors Delaney Krug and Chloe Wittig and freshman Piper Lovett finished eighth in the 200 Freestyle Relay.

The Bulldog boys had a pair of team high third place finishes and freshman Joe Myhre had a hand in both. Myhre teamed with junior Bradley Green and sophomores Joe Ancel and Kyle Baney to open the meet with a third place finish in the 200 Medley Relay, then picked up a third place individually in the 50 Freestyle, as well as a fourth place in the 100 Backstroke.

Ancel finished fifth in the 100 Breaststroke and teamed with Baney, sophomore Diego La Torre and freshman Vince Partlow for fourth in the 200 Freestyle Relay. Partlow also had a successful day individually, making the awards podium in the 200 (7th) and 500 Freestyle (8th).

Green finished sixth in the 100 Butterfly and junior Grant Anspach recorded an eighth place finish in the 200 Freestyle. Senior Grason Horvath chipped in valuable team points with a 13th place finish in diving, and Green, La Torre, Myhre and Partlow finished the day with a fifth place finish in the 400 Freestyle Relay.

The Bulldog girls (5-2) and boys (3-1) return to action on Tuesday, January 8, traveling to Plainfield for a 5:30pm showdown with the Hendricks County rival Quakers!
