Girls' & Boys' Swim/Dive Teams Compete Against Eagles

The Brownsburg boys and girls swimming and diving team fed off of a full house at the Bulldog Aquatic Center on Tuesday night, turning in an outstanding performance in front of an energized crowd against visiting HCC power Zionsville. The Bulldog girls won two of the first three events of the night but eventually fell to the deeper Eagles 127-58 while the Bulldog boys opened their season in resounding fashion, winning nine of twelve events to post a 98-88 victory over Zionsville, their first win against the Eagles since 2008.

The Bulldog boys won the first three races of the night and never looked back, with freshman Joe Myhre having a hand in two of those wins and four total. Myhre teamed with sophomores Joe Ancel and Diego La Torre and freshman Vince Partlow to win the 200 Medley Relay and would claim an individual victory in the very next event, the 200 Freestyle. Myhre also won the 100 Backstroke and teamed with Partlow, junior Bradley Green and sophomore Kyle Baney to win the 400 Freestyle Relay. Baney added two individual wins to his relay success, leading a 1-2 sweep of the 200 IM with Ancel and a 1-2 sweep of the 500 Freestyle with Partlow. Three other Dogs added individual wins on the night, with Ancel touching first in the 100 breast stroke; Green leading the way in a 1-2 sweep of the 100 butterfly with Partlow and La Torre touching first in the 100 Freestyle, with junior teammate Grant Anspach in second place.

Senior Madeline Ketchem was a double winner for the Bulldog girls, winning the 200 IM and teaming with juniors Grace Fulwider and Tia Scoggan and freshman Madison Kehr to win the first event of the night, the 200 Medley Relay. Fulwider added a pair of second place finishes in the 200 Freestyle and 100 Breaststroke, Kehr was runner-up in the 100 Freestyle and junior Chloe Wittig finished second in the 500 Freestyle. Fulwider, Kehr and Wittig teamed with sophomore Kierra Watson to finish second in the 200 Freestyle Relay.

Thank you to all of the Bulldog Swimming & Diving fans that turned out to support the team! Your enthusiasm fueled the team all night, and can do so again next week on the road, as the Boys (1-0) and Girls (3-1) travel to archrival Avon on Tuesday, December 4 for a 5:30 p.m. contest with the Orioles!
