Bulldogs Down Tri-West
The Varsity Girls' Basketball team got a victory against visiting Tri West in the Coaches v. Cancer game, 72-39. The teams traded baskets in the first quarter. The Dogs were up 16-12 after the first 8 minutes of action. The Dogs turned up the defense in the second quarter, scoring 25 points off of several Bruins' turnovers. The Dogs held the Bruins to 5 second quarter points. The Dogs entered halftime up 41-17. The Dogs continued to attack the basket in the third quarter. The Bruins were aggressive too, scoring 15 points in the quarter. The Dogs entered the final quarter with a 60-32 lead. The Dogs tightened the defense in the final 8 minutes of action holding the Bruins to 7 points in the last quarter.
Aliyah Walker scored a team high 18 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Reilly Olmstead scored 14 points, hitting 3 of 4 behind the 3 point arc. Tyon McKenzie added 12 points, grabbed 3 rebounds and dished out 4 assists. Devin Courtney scored 10 points, pulled down 3 rebounds and had 2 assists. Daija Middlebrook scored 9 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and had 2 steals. Chazney Jones grabbed 7 rebounds and scored 4 points. Zhane Roper had 4 steals.
The Varsity will travel to Shortridge High School on Friday night and both teams will face HCC rival Westfield on Saturday night. Come out and support your Dogs!
