Girls' Basketball Falls to Fishers

Girls' Basketball Falls to Fishers

The Varsity Girls basketball team played the #10 ranked team in 4A, Fishers (14-3)  down to the wire in front of an awesome crowd on Friday night.  The Dogs played terrific defense in the first half, holding Fishers to 16 points in the first two quarters of action.  The Dogs entered the half up, 18-16.  The Tigers attacked the basket in the third quarter, outscoring the Dogs by 4.  The Tigers were up by 2 entering the final quarter.  The teams traded baskets in the final 8 minutes of action.  The Dogs led by 1, 44-43 with just under a minute to play.  The Dogs struggled in the final minute, as the Tigers forced several turnovers and the Dogs missed free throws.  Fishers, a veteran squad, hit four free throws in the final seconds to secure the win.

The Dogs played hard and there were several shining moments throughout the game!  The girls will learn from this experience as we approach sectional play.

Aliyah Walker scored a team high 17 points and grabbed 13 rebounds.  Zhane Roper added 7 points and pulled down 6 boards.  Reilly Olmstead added 7.  Hannah Linville played great D on Fisher's speedy point guard, holding her to only three free throws on the night.

The Dogs have a busy week with three games - Tuesday, Friday and Saturday.  Come out and support the Dogs on Tuesday night as they play their Coaches vs. Cancer game against Tri West.

A HUGE thank you to all of the fans, BJBL players and families that came out to support both the boys and the girls teams!
