Southport Hands Bulldogs Loss

The Boys basketball team took on the state ranked Southport Cardinals on Tuesday evening.  While the weather may have been cold and dreary, the action in Varsity Fieldhouse was fast & furious as the Dogs played with great energy and pride.  The game was 32 minutes of back and forth action as the Dogs and Cardinals traded the lead several times.  Big shots by several Bulldogs kept the team tied or within one possession for the entire fourth quarter.  With 7 seconds left the Dogs had a chance for the win but their last second shot failed to find the net.  Despite the loss, the Dogs served notice that they are capable of competing with the state's best teams and continue to improve as the season winds down.  From seniors to freshmen, the Bulldogs had several players contribute to the team's effort.  Their continued effort to play their best basketball in March appears to have the team motivated, positive and collectively gaining confidence.
