Bulldogs Advance to Sectional Semi-Final

The boys' basketball team advanced in the IHSAA 4A state tournament last night by defeating Decatur Central 57-44.  Jaraan Lands knocked home two treys and K.J. Walton converted two drives to get the Dogs on the board.  Solid defense along with precise offense allowed the Dogs to outscore the Hawks 23-11 between the 2nd and 3rd quarters.  Evan Finley stood his ground in the paint and took two charges on Decatur Centrals drivers, while Zack Miller connected on a deep three ball to begin the second half.  Gerald Harney led all players with three steals to go along with career highs of eight points, and six rebounds.  In the fourth quarter Decatur Central attempted a comeback until Mycah Whetstone drove and dished to fellow senior Evan Finely and then drilled a 3-ball to ground the Hawks.  The Dogs knocked down 15/20 free-throws the rest of the way to seal the deal.  Jaraan Lands led all scorers with 16 points and pulled down seven boards. K.J. Walton scored 14 points. Zach Miller scored five points to go along with three assists. And Evan Finley added six points in the victory.
