Boy's Basketball Holiday Recap
The Boys' Basketball Team battled against rival Avon the Friday of Christmas Break losing 49-60. The Bulldogs were led in scoring by Chase Dutra with 17 points; he also grabbed eight rebounds to lead the way on the boards.
The following night the Ben Davis Giants visited the Varsity Fieldhouse and cleaned the offense glass against the Dogs for 18 offense rebounds. 18 extra possession and a cold shooting third quarter froze the Dogs to just 31 points while the Giants pounded home put backs to win the game with 56 points. Jaraan Lands led the Bulldogs with 12 points and Dutra dished out four assists.
This past Thursday, the Bulldogs traveled to Decatur Central. The Dogs withstood a 12 point deficit in the first half thanks to the hustle of Sam Comer who grabbed rebounds and made two diving tips that led to fast breaks cutting the Hawks lead to one, 34-35 at half time. At the end of three the scored was tied at 48. With a time winding down in regulation Xavier Ringo connected on a big basket giving the Dogs the lead. Decatur Central tied the game and the Dogs had a chance at a last second shot in regulation but fell short. In overtime Jaraan Lands nailed a three to give the Dogs the lead with 11 seconds; however, the Hawks answered with a bucket of their own at the buzzer to win the game 68-69. Evan Finley and Sam Comer grabbed individual season high rebounds with six each. Xavier Ringo scored a career high 14 points and dished out a career high six assists with only one turnover. Chase Dutra led the Dogs with 18 points.
