Swim/Dive Defeats the Giants

The Bulldog boys and girls swimming and diving team upped their dual meet winning streaks to four in a row on Tuesday night with a pair of victories over Ben Davis at the Bulldog Aquatic Center. The Bulldog boys (5-1) doubled up the Giants 124-62 while the girls moved to 7-2 on the season with a 107-69 victory.

The girls were led by double winner Avery Chadd. The freshman took the top spot in the 500 Freestyle as part of a 1-2-3 sweep with sophomores Emily Kraatz and Diamond Parker, and teamed with sophomores Clarice Cross and Alyssa Smock and freshman Madison Kehr for first in the 200 Freestyle Relay. Kraatz teamed with senior Katie Thomas and freshmen Piper Lovett and Shelby Smith to win the 200 Medley Relay.Sophomore Megan Wolf led a 1-2-3 sweep of the 100 Butterfly, with seniors Bridgette Zollner and Meghan Schrad in second and third respectively. Wolf also picked up a second place in the 200 IM behind senior Kristin Verpe who cruised to the win. Junior Grace Fulwider won the 50 Freestyle and sophomore Kierra Watson won the 100 Breaststroke with junior Chloe Wittig in second place.

 

Sophomore Kyle Baney was a double winner for the boys, leading a 1-2-3 sweep of the 200 Freestyle with sophomore Hunter Dahlke and senior Nathan Brooks and teaming with Brooks and sophomores Jimmy Breedlove and Diego La Torre for first place in the 200 Freestyle Relay.The Bulldog boys turned in three additional sweeps of the top three places. Juniors Bradley Green, Albert Turk and Connor Lucas (500 Freestyle); juniors Donnie Spencer, Jared Krug and Aaron Brooks (100 Backstroke) and senior Grason Horvath, junior Kyle Johnson and freshman Logan Hannie (Diving) all contributed to 1-2-3 finishes on the night.Sophomores Joe Ancel and Chad Hale took the top two spots in the 100 Butterfly, while Hale teamed with Turk, junior Grant Anspach and sophomore Adam Moll to win the 400 Freestyle Relay. Freshman Joe Myhre took top honors in the 100 Freestyle. Thanks to all of our fans who turned out to support the Dogs! We want to see all of you back in the Bulldog Aquatic Center on Thursday, January 17 for a 6 p.m. contest with Crawfordsville. This is a special night as it is our Senior Night, the final home dual meet for the following Bulldogs: Nathan Brooks, Grason Horvath, Paige Jones, Madeline Ketchem, Meghan Schrad, Katie Thomas, Kristin Verpe and Bridgette Zollner! Please come out and watch us honor our seniors with a victory over the Athenians!
