Swim/Dive Travels to Plainfield and Grabs a Pair of Wins

The Bulldog Boys & Girls Swimming & Diving Team turned in a strong performance on Tuesday night, traveling to Plainfield to face the rival Quakers. The girls won 106-79 while the boys cruised over the Quakers 115-63. The victory was the third dual meet win in a row for both teams.

The girls were led by junior Grace Fulwider who was a quadruple winner on the night. Fulwider took home individual wins in the 100 Freestyle and 100 Breaststroke and had a hand in two winning relays.

In the meets opening event, the 200 Medley Relay, Fulwider teamed with senior Kristin Verpe, junior Tia Scoggan and freshman Madison Kehr for first place. The Bulldogs swept the top two spots in the event, with junior Delaney Krug, sophomore Clarice Cross and freshmen Piper Lovett and Shelby Smith coming in second. Fulwider finished the night by winning the 400 Freestyle Relay with senior Madeline Ketchem, junior Chloe Wittig and sophomore Kierra Watson.

Watson was a triple winner on the night, picking up an individual win in the 200 IM and leading a 1-2 sweep of the 100 Butterfly with sophomore Brianna LaPaugh. Scoggan touched the wall first in the 100 Backstroke for her second win of the night.

Junior Bradley Green, sophomore Joe Ancel and freshman Joe Myhre were triple winners for the Bulldog boys. Like the girls, the boys took the top two spots in the 200 Medley Relay. Ancel, Green and Myhre teamed with sophomore Kyle Baney for the win while junior Grant Anspach and sophomores Jimmy Breedlove, Hunter Dahlke and Diego La Torre came in second.

Ancel (500 Freestyle), Green (100 Freestyle) and Myhre (200 IM) all won individual events on the night and teamed with freshman Vince Partlow to win the 400 Freestyle Relay. Dahlke and junior Connor Lucas finished 1-2 in the 100 Breaststroke.

Senior Grason Horvath and juniors Kyle Johnson and Jacob Rance picked up the top three spots in diving for the second meet in a row.

The Bulldog girls (6-2) and boys (4-1) return to action on Tuesday, January 15, hosting the Ben Davis Giants at the Bulldog Aquatic Center at 6 p.m.
