Girls' Swim/Dive Launches the Season with a Win

The Bulldog Girls Swimming & Diving Team got their 2012-2013 season off to a strong start Tuesday night, soundly defeating Hendricks County rival Tri-West 123-54 in Pittsboro.

In all, 11 Dogs had a hand in at least one victory on the night, with 7 girls contributing to two wins each. Senior Madeline Ketchem, junior Delaney Krug, sophomore Brianna LaPaugh and freshman Piper Lovett won the opening event of the night, cruising to the wall in the 200 Medley Relay. Ketchem (500 Freestyle), Krug (100 Breaststroke) and Lovett (50 Freestyle) all chipped in individual wins later in the meet.

Wittig won the 200 IM and teamed with junior Grace Fulwider and sophomores Clarice Cross and Kierra Watson to win the 400 Freestyle Relay. Kehr won the 100 Freestyle and teamed with Cross, Watson (double relay winners in the meet) and senior Kristin Verpe to win the 200 Freestyle Relay.

Junior Tia Scoggan touched the wall first in the 100 Backstroke for her first career individual first place as a Bulldog.

The Dogs (1-0) will return to action on Tuesday, November 20 at Cascade, taking on Cascade and Mooresville in a 5:30 p.m. tri-meet.
