Boys' and Girls' Swim/Dive Places 2nd at Hendricks County Meet

The Bulldog Boys & Girls Swimming & Diving Team turned in outstanding performances over the weekend at the Hendricks County Invitational. The Dogs finished second on both sides to a deep and talented Avon squad, and held off hard charging Plainfield who finished third on both sides. The Dogs were led by individual County champions Madeline Ketchem and Joe Myhre.
 
Ketchem, a senior, picked up the first individual County title of her career, taking top honors in the 100 Butterfly. Ketchem also teamed with junior Grace Fulwider, sophomore Kierra Watson and freshman Madison Kehr for second in the 200 Medley Relay; teamed with Fulwider, senior Kristin Verpe and junior Chloe Wittig for third in the 400 Freestyle Relay and added another third place individually in the 500 Freestyle.
 
Fulwider recorded two runner-up finishes individually, touching second in the 100 Breaststroke and 200 IM and Watson finished second in the 100 Backstroke. Kehr finished third in the 100 Freestyle and teamed with Watson, Wittig and freshman Piper Lovett for third in the 200 Freestyle Relay.
 
Additional top 6 swims were turned in by junior Tia Scoggan (100 Backstroke), sophomore Brianna LaPaugh (200 IM) and freshman Avery Chadd (100 Backstroke).
 
Myhre narrowly missed the Hendricks County record (54.60) with his first place time in the 100 Backstroke (54.62) and led a 1-2 sweep of the event with junior Bradley Green. Myhre also finished third in the 200 Freestyle while Green added a second place in the 100 Butterfly. Green and Myhre teamed with sophomore Joe Ancel and freshman Vince Partlow for second place in the 200 Medley Relay and teamed with Partlow and sophomore Diego La Torre for second in the 400 Freestyle Relay.
 
Sophomore Kyle Baney had a pair of second place finishes individually in the 500 Freestyle and 200 IM, and teamed with Ancel, La Torre and junior Grant Anspach for third place in the 200 Freestyle Relay. Ancel also chipped in a third place finish in the 100 Breaststroke.
 
Additional top 6 finishes were turned in by junior Donnie Spencer and sophomore Hunter Dahlke in the 100 Breaststroke and the Bulldog diving trio of senior Grason Horvath (7th), freshman Logan Hannie (9th) and junior Jacob Rance (11th) picked up valuable points for the team. Special congratulations to Hannie and Rance, who completed an 11 dive list for the first time in their careers.
 
Both teams return to action on Friday, December 28, traveling to Purdue University for the Lafayette Harrison Endurance Invitational (10:30a.m.) and the Raider Diving Invitational (9:30 a.m.).
